As you can see, the Schack SHUT-DOWN requires much less space on the handlebars then the other switch in the pictures. High machining standards and a precision fit to the handlebar, allows us to use a much narrower clamp with only two 3mm stainless hex head screws.
The Schack SHUT-DOWN uses a retractable lanyard that you wear on your wrist similar to a watch with a velcro band. The 30" long stainless steel aircraft cable stays inside the retractor housing until you move your hand away from the handlebar. This feature also keeps the tether from hanging up on brush and accidently stopping your bike. When your hand gets more then 30" away from the switch the cap comes off and the engine shuts down.
The machined plastic cap on the end of the tether is replaceable in the field with your gloves on. The cap pops on easily with one hand. Since it is a high wear item you will receive two with your order. You will also receive two extra mounting screws and hex head wrench.
The Schack SHUT-DOWN is water proof and dust proof. You will never see dust and dirt inside the switch housing like the one in the picture. The switch is engineered to endure 1 million cycles. The Schack SHUT-DOWN is set up for magneto and battery ignition. You do not have to buy a separate switch for each application. This allows you to move it from one bike to another.
The Schack SHUT-DOWN can be mounted in any position you would like as long as the handle bar diameter is 7/8". You can also mount two switches together. This allows you to have a Schack SHUT-DOWN and a Push Button switch at the same place on the handlebars.
